Make music with other people.

A guided in-person band experience for musicians who want to play, create and develop together.

Band Lab

In person • Small group • Heaton, Newcastle

Saturdays, Weekday evening,

You learn how to play with other people.

Band Lab gives musicians the chance to experience what happens when individual players become a group.

You’ll rehearse together, experiment with ideas, work on songs and learn how to listen, respond and contribute as part of a band.

There’s space to make mistakes, try things differently and discover what you can create together.

Because being a musician isn't just about what you can play on your own. It's about what happens when you play with someone else.

THIS ISN’T ANOTHER MUSIC LESSON

INSIDE BAND LAB

Rehearse. Experiment. Listen. Create.

01

PLAY AS A BAND

Rehearse songs together and learn how your individual part fits into the bigger picture.

02

TRY SOMETHING NEW

Explore improvisation, composition and new material — including the occasional challenge to learn something from scratch.

03

RESPOND IN THE MOMENT

Develop your timing, listening and musical communication — learning how to adapt to the musicians around you.

04

SEE YOUR PROGRESS

Build on each session and experience the difference that regular rehearsal, feedback and playing together can make.

THE BAND LAB EXPERIENCE

There’s a different kind of buzz when it all comes together.

There are things you simply can't learn practising alone.

The timing locks in. Someone tries something unexpected. The rest of the band responds. A song suddenly starts sounding less like a collection of individual parts and more like your version of it.

That’s where Band Lab gets exciting.

Real musicians. Real rehearsal space. Real band experience.

Four people in a music studio, engaged in a discussion about musical notation and composition. A man with long curly hair and a dark sweatshirt is explaining, with diagrams and musical notes on a whiteboard, to three others sitting around him. Studio equipment and guitars are visible in the background.

WANT TO FIND YOUR BAND?

Come and make some music.

You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what kind of band you want to be in. Start by playing with other musicians and see where it takes you.
